2020 has certainly been a year to remember for businesses all over the world but there is still time for you to make the most of the remaining working days of the year with our Christmas marketing tips.

1. Marketing Campaigns are key
The best Christmas marketing campaigns start at the end of October however if you’ve only just started to think about it now, there’s still time make an impact! Many consumers are waiting for last minute deals and don’t shop until the final few weeks before Christmas – make the most of this audience by creating a seasonal offer or sending holiday advertisements to motivate them to buy.

2. Offer a great customer experience

A lot of companies make the mistake of focusing on quantity over quality, especially at busy times of the year. This can cause a reduction in good customer service and an increase in complaints and bad reviews. To ensure everyone has the most wonderful time of the year, make sure that you and your team are on the ball – answering emails, staying on top of social media and assisting with order queries.

3. Don’t forget to give thanks.

The end of the year is a great time to reflect on how your customers have made your business sparkle – especially after a challenging year! By thanking your previous customers you are showing gratitude and keeping your brand personable which in return creates greater customer loyalty. Whether you send out a physical card or a personalised email campaign, you can help spread joy and encourage previous customers to return to you for their holiday shopping needs.

4. Offer festive extras

Everybody loves a free gift, especially when it comes to Christmas. By giving your customers a special offer, a saving or a free gift with a purchase above a certain price point they are more likely to buy and may even spend more! This will feel like a win for both you and your customers as they get a little something extra and you may see your sales amplify!

5. Customer Retargeting

A lot of people will leave a website without making a purchase – this isn’t always down to what your company is offering and can just be that they got distracted and clicked away. If you are able to collect emails of the people visiting your site, or those who haven't completed the check-out process then why not send them a quick reminder. This can encourage them to come back and buy. Even better – why not remind them with a special offer like 10% off their purchase?

6. Host Contests or Giveaways

Contests and giveaways on social media are one of the best ways to increase your following. By hosting a competition on Instagram or Facebook you can get more people talking about your business and entice them to purchase from you. Even better, pair up with a brands that have shared ethics or a similar target audience to increase your reach even further.

7. Produce festive ads

Whether you create a series of social media posts, blogs or emails you can really establish your brand over the festive period. You’ll want to decide what works best for you depending on your business but if you are selling products it may be worth investing in PPC (pay-per-click) advertising to get in front of your audience. Think about your presentation and wording; people are much more likely to click on something advertising “the perfect gift for your loved ones” than “bath bombs for sale”.

8. Launch a video marketing campaign

Did you know that one minute of video is the equivalent to eight million words?! Video popularity has shot up over the last year due to platforms like Tiktok and Instagram promoting their new ‘reels’ feature. Adding video to your emails, website or social media can help you connect with your audience easily and invites them to get to know you and your products even better.

Heading 1 Artificial intelligence (AI) has had a huge impact in many areas of life and SEO is no exception. While it has made online searches easier for consumers, keeping up with it and staying ahead as a business can be challenging. As Google integrates advanced AI into its search results, businesses must rethink their SEO strategies. Understanding the future of SEO in the context of AI is essential to appear high on search rankings and remain competitive. Traditionally, search engine optimisation (SEO) has relied largely on keyword optimisation and link building. If you sell garden products, you would make sure the phrase ‘garden products’ was used frequently throughout your website. You would also look to get some links back to your site from other websites – maybe other businesses in your local area or in a complementary sector. These traditional SEO methods are becoming less effective. AI means search engines like Google and Bing have become better at understanding the intent behind a search, through machine learning algorithms analysing huge quantities of data, as well as natural language processing. Natural language processing doesn’t just understand the words in a query, it understands the context and intent behind it. AI can even understand synonyms, slang and regional variation in language! When someone searches for something online, AI can analyse, interpret and predict their behaviour. So businesses have to adapt their SEO strategies to changing algorithms to stay competitive. You need to have a deeper understanding of your target audience and produce content which meets their needs and answers their queries. It is about providing the best answer to the questions your audience is asking, because AI algorithms are skilled at recognising content which meets the search intent of users and provides value. This means that content which is designed to meet specific needs, answer questions and provide the solutions to problems is more likely to rank higher in searches. AI algorithms will prioritise content which resonates with users on a human level – with every paragraph adding more value and depth. This aligns with AI’s preference for content which engages and informs – and also helps build a stronger connection with your target audience. In addition, AI is making voice searches (e.g. Alexa) much more effective. Voice searches tend to use more words than online searches e.g. ‘find me healthy snacks for pre-school children’ rather than just typing ‘healthy snacks’ into Google with no context. This aspect of AI will continue to grow in importance and become even more widely used.
