Why VIP?
Taking out a VIP support package with Cotswold Web isn’t compulsory, but we do think it’s a good idea. Give us a moment to tell you why…
At Cotswold Web, we keep it simple when it comes to who owns your site once it has been built. Once the invoices have been paid, it is yours to do what you want with. Unlike some agencies, we won’t retain ownership and you are free to change and develop the website yourself.
When you commissioned us to build your site, that’s exactly what we quoted for. We designed it, built it, tested it and made it live. We provided you with the initial training and support to deal with the day-to-day running of the site and to make any additional small changes.
We also gave you a one-month warranty period, to iron out any issues that might need fixing. Once that month was up, the site became yours to use, change and update as you saw fit.
So what happens now?
- Additional development work – do you want to create a page template or add something to the site? That’s new work and will be quoted for and charged.
- If you’ve changed your mind – whether it’s a logo, design template, site functionality or anything other than what was approved when your website went live, you will need to pay for it.
- Extra training – we provided you with a one-hour training session on the basics of using the site, but we can’t make you a webmaster in that time. If you’d like to understand more about website development or how to make significant changes, we can help, but again, we do charge for this.
- Consultation – we will happily discuss new work and site development with you, but we don’t provide consultation for free. So if you want to know how to improve your social media reach using the site or how to rank more highly on Google searches, we can help, but we will charge for it.
- Updates – it’s your website, so you need to look after it. If you prefer not to have Cotswold Web’s VIP support package, then it’s all down to you! We’ve given you full admin access to manage the updates on your site yourself.
- Bugs – unfortunately, bugs and glitches do creep in to websites from time-to-time. We can fix these for you, but it won’t be for free.
- Showing you how to do things – if you decide not to pay for a VIP package for your site, unfortunately Cotswold Web won’t be able to tell you how to do stuff for free.
- Fixing stuff you’ve broken – mistakes happen, but if you’ve installed something on your site and it’s broken it, we can fix it, but we will charge.
